Product Features

Parallel key, is a key that relies on two side surfaces as working surfaces, and transfers torque by pressing the sides of the key and the keyway.
Parallel keys are divided into three types: standard parallel keys, thin parallel keys, guiding parallel keys.
Standard parallel keys have good centering, high positioning accuracy and easy assembly, but they cannot achieve axial fixation of parts on the shaft. They are used for shafts that are high-speed or subjected to impact and variable loads;
Thin parallel keys are used for thin-walled structures and places where the transmission torque is small; guiding parallel keys are used to fix the keys on the shaft with screws, and are used for occasions where the parts on the shaft do not move much along the shaft.

Precautions

1) When the keyway is used in conjunction with the parallel key, if the clearance is too large, the parallel key will not fix completely due to loosening.
2) When the keyway and the parallel key are used too tightly, the parallel key cannot be installed in the keyway.

Frequently asked question (FAQ)

Question: What kinds of materials do parallel keys generally have?
Answer: There are two materials: steel and stainless steel.
Question: How to distinguish the use of parallel keys according to the different shapes?
Answer: Choose different shapes to use, depending on the keyway shape and position.
Question: What do I need to pay attention to when using parallel keys?
Answer: When the fit clearance is too large, it is easy to loosen and cannot be completely fixed, and when it is too tight, it may be unable to install.
Question: What is the effect of removing threaded hole on the parallel key?
Answer: It can facilitate disassembly and reuse without damaging the shaft and keyway.
