Similarly, the lever-shaped switch is like a doorbell – pressing the lever activates a response. The rod-shaped switch works when its rod is moved. There are different types, such as single pole double throw, double pole double throw, single pole normally closed, and single pole normally open. These names might sound complex, but they simply describe how the switch behaves. Single pole means one pathway for electricity, and double pole means two path for electricity,. Normally open (NO) implies the switch is off (open circuit) until triggered, while normally closed (NC) indicates it's on (Close circuit) until triggered.
