Question: What is the lifespan of a proximity sensor and the recommended replacement period?
Answer: There are no specific regulations regarding the service life or recommended replacement period. In a standard indoor environment at room temperature, the expected lifespan is approximately 7 years.
The only part of a proximity sensor with a limited lifespan is the indicator light.
Parts other than the indicator light do not necessarily break down after a certain number of years. Therefore, detection is possible even if the indicator light has dimmed, but approximately 7 years should be used as a guideline.
The lifespan will vary depending on the environment in which it is used.
The lifespan will be shortened if there are sudden temperature changes, vibrations, impacts, or the intrusion of oil.
Question: Can proximity sensors be connected in series or parallel?
Answer: Yes, series and parallel connections are possible. However, it is necessary to connect them via a relay.
Question: Can the cable of a proximity sensor with a built-in amplifier be cut or extended?
Answer: Both cutting and extending are possible. However, the maximum extension distance is 200 meters.
Additionally, when extending the cable, use a cable with the same nominal cross-sectional area and take measures to prevent noise interference, such as using dedicated metal conduits. If the cable is too long or if the cable diameter differs, issues such as voltage drops due to the resistance of the cable may occur.
