Allowable Torque When a Gearhead Is Mounted

  • Please purchase gearheads and mid-gearheads either by specifying additional machining for the motor or from the standalone product page (AC Motor Gearhead EA Series).
  • When the additional machining code GH is specified, the gear ratio is entered in the box (□) within the model number.
  • Combinations shown in the yellow cells ( )indicate that the output rotation direction is opposite to that of the motor. All other combinations have the same rotation direction.
  • The rotational speed is a reference value calculated by dividing the motor’s synchronous speed (50 Hz: 1500 r/min, 60 Hz: 1800 r/min) by the gear ratio.
  • The actual rotational speed decreases by approximately 2–20% from the listed value depending on the load.
  • If a greater gear ratio than those listed in the table is required, please add a mid-gearhead with a gear ratio of 10 between the motor and the gearhead.
    In this case, the allowable torque is 20 N·m.

● Allowable Inertia Load (J) of the Gearhead
- When a load with large inertia (J) is connected to the gearhead, the gearhead receives a momentarily high torque during motor startup,
frequent intermittent operation, or sudden stopping caused by an electromagnetic brake or brake pack. Such excessive shock loads may damage the gearhead or the motor.
- The table below shows the allowable inertia values based on the motor shaft. The motor and gearhead must be used within these limits.
- For three-phase motors, the allowable inertia value is based on reverse rotation after stopping.
- The allowable inertia load (J) at the gearhead output shaft is calculated using the following formula:

- When operating within the allowable inertia range while performing instantaneous stopping using an electromagnetic brake, brake pack, or speed-control motor, the gearhead life is at least 2,000,000 cycles.

Product Features
Feature 1: This product is a unit integrating both the controller and the motor.
Once connected, it can be used immediately, and the speed can be easily adjusted using a potentiometer (variable resistor).
The controller incorporates a speed-control circuit, capacitor, and speed-setting mechanism.
Please note that this unit does not include an instantaneous stop function.

Feature 2: The motor speed can be adjusted through the controller within the following ranges
- 50Hz operation: 90–1400 r/min
- 60Hz operation: 90–1700 r/min
