Three types of cleaning methods are available: degreasing, precision cleaning, and electrolytic polishing + precision cleaning. They can be ordered from one piece with the standard part number.
This eliminates the need for customer cleaning or outsourced cleaning, reducing the amount of time and effort required.

[ ! ] Low temperature black chrome plated products made of SUS440C or 13Cr stainless steel have identification grooves.
[ ! ] Cross-drilled hole areas may be out of O.D. tolerances due to annealing-induced deformation.
[ ! ] Hard chrome plating is applied after surface treatment of the base material, so there is no plating on the machined area.
[ ! ] Annealing required for wrench flats machining and shaft end machined area threading (effective thread length + approx. 10 mm) may lower hardness.
[ ! ] Products are packed by order quantity. Ex. If the order is for 20 pieces, they are packed in one package (incl. 20 pieces).

Shaft ends are supported on V-blocks and turned 360 degrees
to measure shaft runout using a dial indicator.

1/2 of measured runout is defined as the straightness.

Notes on Hardening and Surface Treatment

■Reduced Hardness around Machined Areas

· Although processing is performed after the base material is hardened, annealing may lower hardness of the machined area.
*Reduced Hardness: Approximately 10 to 40 HRC

■Reduced Hardness Range

· Approximately 10 mm from the machined area

(Example)

■Machined area where hardness has lowered due to annealing

· Wrench Flats, Keyway, Set Screw Flats, 90-deg. Flats

■Reduced Hardness Condition of Tapped

The conditions for lower hardness for tapped differ depending on the material and selection conditions.

  • SUS440C or 13Cr Stainless Steel: The hardness of the tapped part will decrease.
  • SUJ2 Equivalent: Under the following conditions, the hardness of the tapped part will decrease.
         · When M ≥ D/2, · RC thread, · Two Tapped Hole on End

■Reduced Hardness Range for Shafts with Cross-Drilled Hole

For Shafts with Cross-Drilled Hole, the reduced hardness range by annealing varies depending on the material.
⇒SUJ2 Equivalent: Approximately 20 mm from the edge including the machined area
⇒SUS440C or 13Cr Stainless Steel: Approximately 30 mm from the edge including the machined area

*Cross-drilled hole areas may be out of O.D. tolerances due to annealing-induced deformation.

■Effective Hardened Layer Depth of Hardening

The effective hardened layer depth varies depending on the external dimensions and materials.

■About hard chrome plating and plating layer of machined area

  • Hard chrome plating is applied after surface treatment of the base material, so there is no plating on the machined area.
  • In the example below, only "///" area is treated with hard chrome plating.

Ex. Plating Remains: Stepped, Threaded Shaft, Set Screw Flat

/// Part: Plating Remains

■Peeling of Cross-Drilled Hole Plating

· Due to the deburring process on the cross-drilled holes, there may be some peeling of the plating layer near the machining area.

/// Part: Peeled plating part
